206 – Monday MamAffirmation: I choose happiness

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Happy Monday, Mama. Last week, we spent a lot of time talking about happiness, how you can’t make your kids happy how you really can’t make any other human being happy. And what does happiness even mean? What does it mean for you? So if you haven’t listened to those episodes from last week, go ahead and listen to those. That way you can really fully feel today’s MamAffirmation. And Mama’s Daily Dose is… Monday MamAffirmation, I choose happiness. Let’s get moving before we get interrupted.


I choose happiness. I choose happiness, I choose happiness, you get to choose it, not only do you get to define what happiness means for you, but you get to choose it. And not only do you get to choose it, but you get to choose it at every single stage, and everyday of your life, and you get to keep choosing it. And if you want to stay happy, you have to keep choosing it. If you are not intentional with how you want to feel and how you want to make others feel, then you are going to be at the mercy of your circumstances of what is going on. And we all know that kids are very unpredictable.


The other day its 6:15 in the morning, there’s basically piss all over the wall, all over the rug, everywhere in my hallway. Long story short, there’s just piss everywhere. And I was angry. I got pissed, pun intended. But I cleaned it up. And I sat down for a moment. And I was like, I choose joy. I choose happiness. This could have ruined the rest of my day. And I could have taken that into every other single situation throughout my day. But at that moment, I decided to choose happiness. And then another moment later on, I chose happiness. And it has to be conscious and it has to be intentional. So today, go through your day and every time you go into a new situation, say the MamAffirmation: I choose happiness.


Mama your action today is to repeat the Monday MamAffirmation: I choose happiness. Because if you don’t choose what you want to feel, and how you want to make others feel, then it’s just going to be whatever your first reaction is, and whatever your reaction is to each circumstance. So say it right after this podcast and continue to say it throughout the day. I choose happiness.
