204 – “We can’t make our kids happy.”

Hey, Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Yesterday in Episode 203, we talked about the one thing that moms want for their kids, is for them to be happy. But how do we ensure that our kids are happy now and into the future? And Mama’s Daily Dose is a quote from Connie Podesta, “We can’t make our kids happy.” Let’s get moving before we get interrupted.

Sorry, Mama, you just can’t. You can’t make your kids happy. The one thing that you want the most for your kids, you just can’t do it, you can’t teach them. And while this may sound a little disheartening, you can’t make another human being happy. It’s just it’s not possible. Because as we talked about all this week, it comes from within, it’s each person’s choice. But what you can do is you can exemplify it for your kids, so they can witness it. And they can experience it. And they can bring that in and know what it looks like and know that it’s a choice and that it comes from them.

Mama, your action today goes back to Monday’s MamAffirmation, “I bring the joy.” I want you to repeat that today. Say it right after this is over. “I bring the joy.” And I just want you to see how that shifts the experiences in your life today, how it shifts the people around you. “I bring the joy.” And to bring a little more joy to your day, head on over to allyoumama.com And take the free quiz, “I’m a Mom, What the F Do I Want Now?” Because if you don’t know what you want, you don’t know what’s going to make you happy…then how are you going to reach that goal of being “happy” if you don’t know what it is! 2 minute quiz, allyoumama.com And have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
