202 – How to be happy

Hey, Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short, actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan, Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. What do you want out of life? If you go around and ask a bunch of people what they want out of life, I’m pretty sure you will at least get a few answers that say, “I want to be happy. I just want to be happy.” But what does that even mean? What does being happy mean? What does it look like? And Mama’s Daily Dose is… What is happiness? Let’s get movin before we get interrupted.


The majority of people in their lives want to be happy. And that’s not a bad thing, right? Happy is great. We all want to be happy. There’s very few people in this world that don’t really want to be happy. But what does happiness actually mean? And how do you reach it? So I turn to dictionary.com. And the definition of happiness is feeling or showing pleasure, enjoying a condition or situation, being content, all super positive words. But what I think about happiness is, it’s this elusive thing. We’re all chasing this elusive happiness. When really, it’s up to you. You get to choose what your happiness looks like. Like the Monday mama formation, you get to choose joy. You get to choose what you want to bring my happy, looks a lot different from someone else’s happy. So really, what is your specific goal is not to be happy. But to go after, and be the person that is happy. So really, happiness is who you become. It’s who you want to be. It’s not a specific state of something. It’s who you are. And it begins within you. You choose to be happy, you choose what is going to bring you happiness. You choose to bring the joy every day and you choose to be happy every day. And when you realize that it’s a choice and you make that choice. That’s when happiness begins.


Mama your action today is to look back on the last person or situation that really brought some joy and brought some happiness into your life.
