184 – “Successful people lead statistically unsensible lives.”

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com.

Mama, do you ever think that maybe you’re just a little bit crazy? Well, you know what? That’s cool. We’re all a little bit crazy. And you need that in order to be successful. And Mama’s daily dose is… a quote from Dr. Srini Pillay in his book “Life Unlocked,” “Successful people lead statistically unsensible lives.” Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

Crazy, weird unsensible people are the successful people that make changes in this world. In order to make a change, you got to do something out of the ordinary, most successful people have probably been called crazy, insane, and much worse words. I mean, look at Jeff Bezos, he started Amazon, in his garage. People are like, “Dude, you think you’re gonna do free two day shipping, like, that’s crazy. An online marketplace, that’s ridiculous.” Now look at it, I won’t buy something, if I don’t get free two day shipping, it’s like just not even worth it now, because that is the norm. But when he started, that was totally unsensible. That was just crazy.

And in order to make a big splash or be what you think is successful, you got to do something that’s a little bit crazy, a little bit unsensible. And the way that you do that, is by believing in yourself. Jeff Bezos really believed that he could do it, and look what he created. And then who followed after, then Walmart, and Target and all these places, any of them could have started it. But they didn’t believe that, Jeff Bezos had that belief in it. And he started it. And then once other people saw it, they’re like, “hey, I can do that, too.”

Most people don’t believe things until they see them. Those successful people out there. They believe things, and then they see them.

Mama, your action today is to look back on Tuesday. What is the thing that you are afraid of losing or that is not a HELL YES. And when you get rid of that (hopefully you already have)… What are you making room for? What successes? What crazy stuff? Are you making room for? By getting rid of that fear? By getting rid of what is no longer a hell yes for you.

And if you’re having trouble figuring out what it is that you want, like What the f do I even want now? There’s a brand new quiz on my website at allyoumama.com And start figuring out what it is the F that you want now, because honestly, that is the main thing I hear from mamas is “I don’t even know what I want. I don’t know where I want to go. What I want to do.” And if we’re left in limbo, we don’t have goals. We’re not sure what we’re wanting to do. We’re kind of just going along with the flow of life. We don’t have control over where we’re going. So get clear on what it is that you want mama and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
