182 – Do you want $100?

Hey, Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short, actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Mama, we are halfway through February. 

And this point marks when about 80%, 8-0 percent of people quit their New Year’s goals or resolutions, whatever they may be. And that reason is, because now is when those fears of what you have to give up, in order to get your goal really start to set in. In January, everyone’s jacked. They’re like, “Oh, I’m making these big changes. I’m not going to eat junk food, I’m going to get healthy. I’m gonna look so awesome in my bikini come this summer…” But then February comes around and people are like, “Oh, wait, okay, so I got to give up all the food that I like, I got to spend time meal planning, I got to work out more I have to explain why I’m not eating this food. I don’t get to hang out my friends and go be social and drink and all this stuff…” And so everything that you have to give up starts compounding. And people are like, “Man, how to think I really want this anymore.” And so they quit. 

And Mama’s daily dose is… do you want $100? Let’s get moving before we get interrupted? 

Okay, Mama, do you want $100? I’m giving it to you. Here’s $100. Alright, most people are gonna say hell yes, I want $100 I’ll take $100. But did you know that most people are more afraid of actually losing $100 that they already have in their wallet right now than they are excited about getting an additional $100. So most people would rather just hold on to that $100 that they have then get an additional $100. So you’re saying $200 Because you already have 100 plus 100 more. But more people are going to cling to that $100 that they already have in their wallet instead of opening up for more opening up for the option have more in their lives, because they are so afraid of losing what they already have. And that is why so many people quit their goals in February because they are afraid of losing what they have what we talked about a couple of weeks ago, the future is unknown. And in order to get more, a lot of times, we have to give up that security and give up what we have that security of having that $100 We got to give that up in order to make space to get that additional $100.

Mama your action today is to write down what you are afraid of losing. Are you afraid of losing friends, maybe losing some family members, losing money, losing time with your kids. What are you afraid of what is holding you back from getting that $100 more? Just write it down today. We’ll have another action later in the week to take on that one and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
