140 – Meditation can be intimidating

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Happy Friday, y’all make sure you get that time to yourself today, and get it scheduled for the weekend as well. If you don’t already have it scheduled, get scheduled for the much needed mama meditation this Sunday, December 19. At 2pm Reserve your spot right now, at allyoumama.com/mamameditation. This Mama is the time that you need for you to just relax, get some quiet, do you even know what that is? We will show you and just have some time to relax and recharge and get ready for the rest of December. And Hey, speaking of meditation, Mama’s Daily Dose is… meditation can be intimidating. Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

Trust me, I used to think meditation was too difficult. I didn’t see the point of like sitting there being quiet. I’m like, I could get so much other crap done. In this time. Why do people just like silence. And then I realized, you know who loves silence is mom’s the first time I ever tried meditating. It was part of a yoga class at 24 Hour Fitness when I was about 23-24 years old. And I remember they said, We’re going to start with a 10 minute meditation. And I’m looking around like, oh my god, 10 minutes, we’re just gonna sit here and be quiet. This is insane. And I was sitting there and everyone else is enjoying the meditation. And I’m just looking around, like, when is this going to end? I can’t do this. Why am I sitting here, I don’t want to sit here we should be working out we should be stretching, we should be doing something else. While everyone else was enjoying this peace and quiet. I was just worried about everything else I could be doing. And on top of that, so many people think that they’re meditating wrong. And honestly, there is no way to meditate wrong. Just sit there. If a thought comes by, acknowledge that thought, let it go or sit with that thought. It’s up to you. There’s all different kinds of meditation. And you can cater it to what you need, and what you want. The hardest thing about meditation is really just getting started. But let me tell you, no matter how small or long the meditation is, it’s going to be helpful. In the long run those tiny little 32nd One minute breaths and meditation, breathing, mindfulness, whatever you want to call it, is going to help you in the long run that’s going to compound you do one minute a day, that’s 365 minutes a year of you just taking some time to breathe, be with yourself, inspire some creativity, all these things that we’ve been talking about this week.

So Mama, while it can be a little intimidating, I urge you just to give it a try. Most things are not nearly as bad as you think once you actually do them. Last call for Mama meditation this Sunday, December 19. If you have been intimidated by meditation, sign up, I will guide you through it. There is nothing to be intimidated about. You will just come out more relaxed and a little more patient to and you also get the bonus to minute guided meditation that you can use on your own. Everyone has two minutes and it will help you be a little bit more patient and present. Have a great weekend. I will see you on Sunday at the mama meditation and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
