97 – Do the thing

Hey Mama, this is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Mama’s Daily Dose is… do the thing. Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted. 

When you have something that you just keep thinking about, or a dream that you’ve had that it’s like, “one day, I’ll do that maybe someday…” just do it do the thing. And this has been such a theme through a lot of interviews that I’ve had on the special interview episodes of this podcast; that these people just took a leap of faith. 

In Episode 83, with Hannah Anderson, she talks about how she had always dreamt of being in the Australian Army. And she got into her early 30s and was like, “hey, if I don’t do this now, I’m never going to do it.” So she took that leap. She didn’t know if it was going to work out. But she knew that if she didn’t do it, then it was never going to happen. 

And then in an earlier interview with Meredith Whitney from the Bump Protocol, she talks about how she came up with the idea of her business. After drinking a bottle of rose one night, it just came to her. She wrote it down, got a plan and just ran with it. Women especially, and moms even more… we take the time to always think about what is reasonable, what makes the most sense…okay, let’s weigh this against that and this against that. And the probability of this and probability of that, instead of just doing that thing, we waste all of our energy on contemplating if we should actually do it. And you know what? We need to take more action, fail a little bit more. All right, it is okay to fail. It’s a lot better to fail than to look back later on in life and say, “What if? Maybe, I should have done that thing.” And now it’s too late. 

Mama, none of us know how long we are on this earth for. So go out there. Do the thing. What have you been thinking about for so long that you just need to take an action? Think about one small thing. Do one thing today to take action on that thing. And have a great day free mama guilt because you deserve it.
