112 – Your first thought in the morning

Hey, Mama, this is Mama’s daily dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Sticking with the gratitude theme this month, we’re talking about how you start your morning, and mamas daily doses is…What is your first thought? Well, let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

Your alarm has just gone off, or your kid has just come in your room, your eyes start to slowly open. And what is your very first thought in the morning? Because that first thought really sets the tone for the rest of your day. Rewind about a year ago, a little over a year ago. And every morning, I would wake up and be like, “Oh, my God, I have to get up now. I’m so tired. I wish I could sleep longer. I’m not ready for this, I’m not ready to be on… I’m not ready to go. I just need a little more time.” And that was basically how the rest of my day when I felt like I was always trying to make up time that I didn’t have enough time. I felt down on the day, I just felt tired in general. And that first thought, just set up the stage for the rest of the day and how I felt the remainder of the day. And a few months ago, I decided to really change this and be very intentional with what my first thought is in the morning. And now when I wake up, I actually usually wake up before my alarm. Now, the first thing I say to myself is, “I am grateful to live another day.” Because you know what, there are tons of people out there that did not get to wake up this morning, they did not get to live another day. So regardless of what happens throughout the whole day, I at least get to live another day. I get to be here another day, I get to be with my kids, I get to be with my husband, I get to be with my family, I get to do this podcast, I get to do the things that I enjoy. And I get to set that tone to. I’m the one that decides how I feel for the day. And I decide to choose grateful. So if you’re looking for a thought, or some kind of mantra, whatever you want to call it…saying, when you wake up in the morning, just give it a try. As soon as you open your eyes, just say “I am grateful to live another day.”

Mama, grab that notebook, and write down three things you are grateful for. I just gave you one right there. I’m grateful to live another day. And give it a try tomorrow morning. And each day after that and see how that really changes your attitude for the rest of the week. And hey, we have a special interview episode coming up tomorrow with Robin Burns, who is a rock star in direct selling, multi level marketing, whatever you want to call it. I go in and out with all the different phrases and interview too, but she dropped some real knowledge not just on how to be successful in network marketing, but how to be successful in life and how life gets hard, but you can do hard things and those that are successful are the ones that stick it out. So be sure to tune in tomorrow and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
