Hey, Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Happy Monday, we have a theme for the next three days and that is simplifying your life. Mama’s Daily Dose is… I’ll take a hard “NO” over a soft, “yes.” Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.
One of the biggest things you can do to simplify your life is to just say no. And a lot of times that can be easier said than done. But what happens is, we say yes to these things that we don’t really want to do, then we feel obligated to do them. And then not only do we have to end up doing them, and spending time and energy on that, but we spend all this energy debating with ourselves and arguing with ourselves. “Why did I say yes to do this? Should I really do it? Should I cancel on them? Oh, my gosh, I’m gonna feel so bad if I cancel, but I already said that I would.”
So leading with that hard “NO”, instead of the soft “yes” is not only going to save you a ton of time. But even more energy. I first heard this quote from a friend of mine, Ron Johnson. And as soon as he said it, I was like, Oh, my gosh, I need to implement that in my life. We had been chatting and he does some coaching. And he asked if I wanted to go on as a coaching client. And I said no, because I knew at the time, that was not something that I could commit to. And his response was just, I love it. I will take a hard “NO”, over a soft “Yes” any day. And that’s what you should do. Give a hard “NO” when you want to say no. Instead of giving a soft, yes.
What is something that you can say “NO” to today. What is something that you don’t want to do, that you can just give a straight, hard “NO” to? And tomorrow we’re talking a little bit about…Where does time go? What are you using it for? This is a big topic we’ve been focusing on this month in Selfish Mama’s Club, which will open up for registration again at the end of this month. And it’s not only what do we use our time on, but are we using it efficiently? Successful people use their time efficiently, unsuccessful people use their time inefficiently. So where do you want to be? And have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
