54 – “You’re both on a solo journey and in need of others…”

Hey, Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Welcome to quote Thursday, and today is a quote from Ross Ellenhorn, from his book, How We Change, “you’re both on a solo journey, and in need of others to make it to your destination.” Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

You know, when you know things, but then you read them in a slightly different way. And it’s like, mind blown. That’s what this quote did for me. Because I knew that I needed the support of other people. And the really important thing that I want to add to this quote is the right people, not just others, you need to find the right people that really, truly believe in you and want to see you succeed, and are there to give you the good and the bad feedback to get you to where you want to be. But then on the flip side, it was like, you’re alone in that, because you have to be the one to decide to make a change, you have to be the one to take action, you could have the best support group there is, but if you aren’t getting your butt in gear and actually taking some kind of action, you’re not going to get anywhere. And it goes the other way, too. You could be the most motivated person, and you could be on your way towards your goals. But if you don’t have that group of supportive people and people to share with, it makes it a heck of a lot harder. Is it impossible, not impossible, there’s probably people out there that have done it alone. But it’s also probably not as enjoyable. What may seem like two totally opposites, that you are alone in this journey. But you also need the right people to help you; does that make sense? You need to know and believe that it’s up to you, and that you are responsible for your life. But you also need to know that you have the support of others.

Support can look different for everyone. And as a mom, sometimes I know that I just need to be seen, heard and understood. And the only people that can really empathize with a lot of my situations are moms. And that’s why I created Selfish Mamas Club so that you can feel seen heard and understood because so often as moms, we just feel like people don’t get it. So join a group of mamas that get it. We’re here for you. Check it out. Allyoumama.com and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
