49 – “Bank your gratitude…”

Hey Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. It is Thursday. And you know what that means it is quote day Mama’s Daily Dose is… a quote from CJ Schneider, in her book, Mothers of the Village. “Asking for help, particularly in a situation, where you aren’t able to give back is a hard thing to do. Bank your gratitude for a time when you can generously pay it forward.” Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

Love, love this quote. And it especially speaks to mothers and mothers of young children because we are short on time and short on a lot of patience. And so it can be difficult to ask for help when you know that you may not have a whole lot of time or something to give back to this person. And that’s okay. The world is all about giving and taking. That’s how it moves around. You have to do both, we have to get good at both. So often, people are so bad at receiving gifts, you play this little dance of like, Oh, no, no, no, you shouldn’t have Oh, don’t give it to me. Oh, take it back, take it back. When really, that person just wanted to give you a gift. They want to help you out. Just take it and take it in that moment and bank it. And then when you have the time you have the energy you have the resources to pay it forward to either them or someone else, then go do it then accept the help that you need and deserve and don’t feel like you have to pay it back right away. The universe is going to be there and so you can pay it back when you are able to pay it back. But when you need the help, take the help.
